(note: Blogger was down all last night so we're a bit late on this one)

We finally made it back into the bathroom today! At 2:30pm to be exact. And MAN did we wreck havoc on the walls!!! We had them all down and the rubble cleared to the side of the house by 6pm. It was liberating to finally be done with the electrical and finally get down to making some progress that FELT like progress.

The electrical renovation was basically four days of attic purgatory for Steve. But it's worth it. And the washing machine situation was taken care of in-wall so there was no removal of the dryer afterall.

And as for exposing the secrets within our walls, what DID we find? A stack of Action Comics #1's? A few bricks of Nazi gold? The loot of a thousand worlds? Hmmmmmm . . . . . well aside from a bit of mould and some 1950's news print, we discovered that in 1912 interior walls were framed in 2x3's, and outside walls were 2x4. Hard as nails old growth 2x4's mind you. They also didn't know anything about double plates, window trimmers, blocking or bracing. These walls are framed, and that's about it. It looks like adding some framing to the outside wall will job #1 tomorrow, so that it can take the load of the vaulted ceiling.
